The formula for velocity is v (ft/s) = 0.4085 x q(gpm) / (d(in))2
2. The liquid is assumed to be water. Pipes or tubes are issumed to be smooth such as steel or PVC.
3. Match the pump head calculated with the vendor's rated head for a flow rate close to your required flow rate.

4. If the suction line is longer than 3-4 ft, add this length to the length of the pipe.
5. The friction loss calculation is done using the Swamee-Jain formula.
